The soda vs pop one, I wonder why it's like that... I can guess maybe because Coke started in Atlanta (at least their HQ's is there). But why St. Louis for soda? and why Milwaukee/Eastern part of Wisconsin for soda? I do say "soda" but I don't remember why. Looks like the Northeastern US says soda too.

Yeah we grew up w/ soda.
The lighter color near Boston is due to the use of "tonic".
Maybe the brewing history of Milwaukee and St Louis has to do with the use of soda.

You know, St. Louis is also home to Dr. Pepper/7-up. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.
yeah that education thing is disturbing... especially so close to home. Glad to see Ohio was significantly lighter colored than its neighbors
